Established by Yung Tien Art, ALIEN ART CENTRE’s current curatorial program is dedicated to presenting the forward-thinking visions proposed by 20th- and 21st-century pioneers—“aliens”—while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among artists. In addition to curated exhibitions of contemporary art and design, the museum’s permanent collection features James Turrell’s The Collin Canal, a luminous spatial installation. Using light as his medium, Turrell awakens the viewer’s primal visual perception and its psychological resonance, guiding audiences into a meditative experience shaped by celestial light. The architecture of ALIEN ART CENTRE preserves a deeply meaningful chapter of history. Its curatorial approach reflects contemporary perspectives while honoring the building’s origins, grounded in the belief that art is an experience shaped by “visual creation,” “locality,” and “architectural space.”
Once upon a time, Kinma Guest House was a distant longing in many hearts. Today, that memory blossoms anew, accompanied by beauty. As lush greenery comes into view, an urban oasis quietly unfolds. Here, a cup of coffee and a book are all you need—everything feels perfectly in place.

ALIEN MODE is a curatorial platform initiated by the ALIEN Art Centre team, dedicated to building meaningful connections between art, audiences, and private collectors, while advancing the archival documentation and international visibility of artists’ works.
The platform collaborates with artists, galleries, art institutions, and collectors to cultivate a shared cultural ecosystem. ALIEN MODE not only explores material selection and formal development in depth, but also examines how art can contribute to sustainability, fostering a synergistic relationship between culture and ecology.
ALIEN Shop, located within the museum, is curated for lovers of art and design. The shop features exhibition publications and art and design catalogues related to current and past exhibitions, allowing visitors to extend the artistic atmosphere into everyday life.
A curated selection of exhibition merchandise—including contemporary T-shirts, handcrafted notebooks, and thoughtfully designed lifestyle objects—blends aesthetics with functionality. Built in 1967, Kinma Guest House stands as a representative example of Taiwan’s post-war architecture. Its fluid horizontal and vertical lines frame expansive openings for natural light and ventilation. The banded façade design creates an interplay of positive and negative spaces, forming a layered three-dimensional composition, while the orderly staircases and corridors reinforce the building’s rhythmic expression. Its style echoes Mies van der Rohe’s concept of “geometric composition.”
The building materials include exposed aggregate, terrazzo, and matrix-style brickwork characteristic of the Japanese colonial period, integrated with the texture of concrete to convey the aesthetic qualities of timber construction.
