## ALIEN Art
ALIEN Art is a contemporary art institution in Taiwan, independently initiated and privately operated. Dedicated to curating exhibitions and cultural programs, the museum fosters dialogue across contemporary art, architecture, and interdisciplinary practices.
Situated within the restored historic Kim Ma Guest House complex, ALIEN Art creates an ongoing exchange between heritage architecture and contemporary cultural production. Through exhibitions, artistic initiatives, and public programs, the museum seeks to build an open platform that supports artistic exploration, encourages critical reflection, and deepens public engagement.
As a long-term cultural initiative, ALIEN Art emphasizes curatorial practice, research context, and spatial experience, continuously exploring the connections between art and everyday life.
We believe that exhibitions are not merely presentations of artworks—they are methodologies. Within time and space, they create deeper dialogues between viewers, artworks, and perception itself.
Committed to the accumulation of curatorial depth and public engagement, the museum centers on long-term collaboration and research-driven development. With sustainability as a guiding principle, ALIEN Art adopts diverse operational strategies to ensure the continued advancement of exhibitions and cultural programs, reinvesting resources into artistic production and meaningful public participation.

## Director & Curatorial Vision
Director and Curator **Sha Ya-Man** leads ALIEN Art’s curatorial direction, academic research, and educational initiatives, extending her vision into exhibition design and spatial aesthetics. Through interdisciplinary curatorial methodologies, she responds to contemporary contexts—fostering originality in contemporary art through exhibitions, public programs, and collaborative exchanges.
Her curatorial philosophy emphasizes resonance between exhibition content and audience experience: How does one enter a work? How does one dwell within a space? How does beauty connect perception and emotion? These questions form the foundation of her approach.
Beginning with resonance and perception, ALIEN Art creates an atmosphere where contemporary art becomes accessible, offering experiences of healing and reflection. This does not simplify exhibitions; rather, it embraces openness—allowing visitors from diverse backgrounds to engage at their own pace and carry meaningful impressions back into daily life.
Under this framework, the museum’s curatorial core is built upon the intersection of **visual creation, natural environment, and architectural space**. Exhibitions are conceived as embodied experiences—natural light, architectural textures, and spatial rhythms shaping a sense of time and presence. Through this approach, artworks are reinterpreted within context, fostering dialogue between work and space, history and the present.
The museum’s curatorial methodology follows a sustainable structure:
* **Space as Narrative**: Integrating architecture and environment into the act of viewing.
* **Research as Context**: Building curatorial trajectories rooted in art history and contemporary discourse.
* **Interdisciplinary Perception**: Connecting art, design, and diverse creative practices to expand interpretive entry points.
* **Public Engagement**: Deepening resonance through guided tours, forums, and programs that make exhibitions participatory and shareable.
In recent years, curatorial research has focused on **materiality** as a key thread—examining how materials expand perception, connect technology and life, and invite reconsideration of ecological relationships. Through these curatorial principles, ALIEN Art aspires to become a contemporary art platform where more people can enter, engage, and build meaningful resonance.
